Long queues of vehicles after resumption of CNG supply at fuel stations after suspension of some 36 hours engendered traffic jams on various thoroughfares in the city on Thursday evening. Severe traffic congestions were witnessed on M.A Jinnah Road, Guru Mandir, Lasbela, Liaquatabad, Peoples Chowrangi, II Chundrigar Road, Hassan Square, Qayoomabad Chowrangi, Korangi Road and many other thoroughfares, making it difficult for commuters to move smoothly.

Taxis, auto rickshaws, buses, etc, were seen making long queues at CNG fuel stations whom the affected commuters blame for the traffic congestions. Passenger buses, cars, motorcycles, etc, were also seen lined up on the major arteries throughout the day while traffic police personnel seemed helpless to regulate the flow of the traffic particularly in the peak hours from 5pm to 9pm. Many motorists were seen volunteering to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic at Saddar, Guru Mandir area, etc.

The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) had suspended gas supply to all the CNG stations in Sindh, including Karachi for 36 hours citing low gas pressure. After that, CNG stations resumed operations at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The construction work and excavation of roads by the civic authorities particularly on MA Jinnah Road also hampered the traffic flow in Saddar and surrounding areas.
